As mayor of Borsbeek, the elections were coming up and I really didn’t know which way the results would go. If I weren’t re-elected, I could always go back to my ‘old jobs’ – I was a seconded school principal and had held important positions in catholic education –, but my seats had been taken for years and therefore I wasn’t eligible to take them again. I also worried about my age and wasn’t looking forward to applying for jobs again. I came to my coach with many insecurities. To me, the career guidance felt like unlocking a book,
one that you always carry with you, but haven’t read thoroughly yet. My coach was the skilled librarian who opened my book and linked it to other useful books. She gave me insights in myself and taught me how to use my talents and capabilities and to deploy them better in my current context. I’d recommend it to everyone!
