As mayor of Borsbeek, the elections were coming up and I really didn’t know which way the results would go. If I weren’t re-elected, I could always go back to my ‘old jobs’ – I was a seconded school principal and had held important positions in catholic education –, but my seats had been taken for years and therefore I wasn’t eligible to take them again.
